Resident catches young girl after 7th floor fall

A Hangzhou resident caught a 7-year-old girl who fell from the 7th floor of a residential building and held her tight before she was saved by firefighters in the capital city of east China’s Zhejiang Province on June 25, Metro Express reported.

As a video shot by a witness showed, the young girl was hanging outside the safety window rails around 5am in a residential complex located in the city's Xiasha District.

The girl fell through a gap when she was left alone at home that morning and climbed over the balcony, the report said.

A resident surnamed Wei, who lived next to the building, rushed to the scene after his wife spotted the critical situation. He asked tenants in the flat on the sixth floor to open their door. He then fastened the girl with firefighting safety ropes and held her tight through the rails until firemen arrived.

Firefighters descended on ropes from the eighth floor and eventually passed the girl into the room safely. She suffered no injuries.

The girl’s family members were not reachable after she was saved. According to the girl, they had gone to the hospital to see her sick brother.
