An old woman from Zibo in east China’s Shandong Province took a ride in a helicopter to celebrate her 80th birthday on August 13, thepaper.cn reported.
Yu Xianglan's son Guo Libo and grandson Li Guoqiang came up with the plan with other family members. They spent 30,000 yuan (US$4,386) renting a Robinson R44 helicopter so that Yu could enjoy a bird's eye view of her hometown.
Yu said she had never flown before in her life and felt "good" after taking to the skies for the first time.
Li Hongmei, Yu’s daughter-in-law, said she and a few other family members began planning an 80th to remember a few years ago.
