A retired university professor in Nanjing, capital of east China’s Jiangsu Province, startled local traffic police when he produced papers full of physics equations to prove he had no responsibility for a traffic accident he was involved in, thepaper.cn reported.

Sun, aged 73, was turning right at the crossroads of Jiangjun Avenue and Tianyuan Road W in the city’s Jiangning District on May 31 when his car collided with a taxi. Both cars were slightly damaged.

During the investigation, Sun submitted two sheets of A4 paper filled with equations to the police to prove he was not responsible.

The police came to the same conclusion, but by the much less arduous process of simply checking the surveillance footage.
