GE Healthcare has signed a memorandum of understanding to enter a strategic partnership with five local independent software vendors as it introduces its Edison network system in China.

The five local developers and medical technology service providers are among the first batch of domestic companies to tie up with GE Healthcare to develop digital health care applications based on its ecosystem.

"The Edison ecosystem we have built with our partners is an important step in GE Healthcare's digital transformation," said Dai Ying, Chief Innovation Officer of GE Healthcare in China.

Shukun Technology, Yizhun Intelligent, YITU, 12 SIGMA and BioMind are to develop digital health care applications based on device capabilities, clinical cases and data integration through the developer portal.

Other domestic developers are also able to access key modules through the Edison portal and distribute their software applications to other medical institutions around the globe.

Third-party developers can access GE Healthcare technology and data know-how to build applications.

"We hope to help apply health care-specific services including artificial intelligence, advanced visualization and work flow optimization and integration to a vast amount of health care data and to finally reduce waste and inefficiencies and improve patient outcomes," commented Amit Phadnis, Chief Digital Officer of GE Healthcare.
