Private funds exceed US$1.5t for 1st time

The size of private funds exceeded 10 trillion yuan (US$1.5 trillion) for the first time in August, with private equity investment and venture capital increasing 1.68 trillion yuan.

The size of private funds had reached 10.21 trillion yuan by August, up 260 billion yuan from July — the first time private funds surpassed 10 trillion yuan, according to the latest registration records of private funds released by the Asset Management Association of China.

The PE funds and VC funds accounted for around 62 percent as the main force powering the growth of private funds.

The size of private funds for securities investment, however, shrank by 520.1 billion yuan from the end of last year to 2.25 trillion yuan last month.
