Pudong tops the list of receiving courier packages

Shanghai's Pudong New Area turned out to be the busiest among domestic districts in terms of the number of courier packages delivered in the past year, according to the latest finding by Alibaba's logistics affiliate Cainiao Network.

Shenzhen's Bao'an District and Beijing's Chaoyang District trailed on that list covering the whole country. Among the top 10 districts, Guangdong Province is home to six while Beijing and Shanghai each contribute two. 

Within Shanghai, the top five districts are Pudong New Area, Minhang, Baoshan, Songjiang and Jiading.

The number of packages delivered to central and western regions are picking up quickly with the improvement of logistics infrastructure and more delivery efficiency. 

Online shopping spending from smaller cities also moves up substantially in recent years. Wuhan's Hongshan District is among the top 20 districts.

In far-flung regions like Tianshan and Shihezi in Xinjiang, the number of packages delivered is even higher that to Beijing's Yanqing District.

The number of packages in county-level cities and prefectures, such as Kunming and Erdos, has seen five to seven times in their average annual growth in recent years.
