The 4th Youth Innovation Competition on the Lancang-Mekong Region’s Governance and Development (YICMG) will be held in late January next year in Cambodia, the organizing committee announced on Thursday.

Following the theme "Green Consumption, Production and Social Development," students from the region who are interested in the event are asked to submit project proposals with recommendation letters from one or two mentors by October 8.

The student projects will be assessed online by experts from six countries, and the top 20 will be selected for the final in Cambodia.

After the competition, experts will further guide and invest in the top projects to turn their ideas into real, innovative and entrepreneurial practice.

The competition is supported by China’s Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Water Resources, the Cambodian Ministry of Youth Education and Sports, and the governments of Qinghai Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The event was held in China for the first two years, before moving outside the country for the first time in January this year to Laos, kicking off the rotating mechanism among the six host countries — China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.

Submissions can be emailed to yicmg2019@163.com
