New bus route to make it easier at Hongqiao

Bus route No. 835, will be put into operation next month, and will serve as a shuttle bus traveling between Hongqiao Transportation Hub and a terminal of Bus No. 71.
The 71 route runs along the 17.5-kilometer bus-only lanes under Yan’an Elevated Road. The route, running through four districts in Puxi, connects suburban Hongqiao area and the Bund in downtown.
The service operator, Shanghai Ba-Shi Public Transportation Group, said yesterday that the No. 835 bus will run along a circular route that starts from Shenkun Road station, a terminal station of Bus No. 71 at the suburban end.
Shenkun Road station is about 3 kilometers from Hongqiao Airport. Currently passengers going to the airport or the nearby railway station have to walk for about 10 minutes to a bus station. Once the new shuttle bus route is set up, there will be more options for passengers to transfer to downtown after getting off trains or planes.
The 8.9-kilometer new bus route will stop at Shenkun Road station, Exit 8 of Terminal 2 of Hongqiao Airport, Exit 2 of Hongqiao Railway Station’s Departure (South), Hongqiao West Transportation Hub and then back to Shenkun Road station.
The service will operate from 5:30am to 10pm, with intervals of 15 minutes. Tickets cost 2 yuan (30 US cents) per person.
To help residents living in Hanghua area to transfer to the 71 bus, the routes of Bus No. 709 and 149 will be adjusted.
