Skies will be mostly a mix of sun and clouds over the next few days but residents are being urged not to go out due to the risk of coronavirus-related pneumonia infection.

"Forecasts say it will be mainly sunny and cloudy weather in the following week," said Wu Jinglei, director of the city’s health commission. "Currently, the public fully understand and support the city's work on epidemic prevention and control. People try their best to avoid going out and gathering together, which effectively slows down the spread of coronavirus-related pneumonia.

"We hope the public can continue to enhance awareness of self-protection, reduce outdoor activities and avoid going to crowded areas."

Ma Ke, an associate chief physician at Tongji Hospital in Wuhan, said being in the sun won't help killing the novel coronavirus and people will have more chances to catch a cold in such weather.

Saturday will be sunny and dry but cold in the morning with temperatures just 2 degrees Celsius in downtown areas. In the city’s outskirts they will range between minus 2 degrees and freezing point with some thin ice on the ground. During the day temperatures will rise to 11 degrees. There will be morning fog in some parts of the city.

Clouds will increase on Sunday, and there may be some drizzle at night.

Monday will see drizzle at times under overcast skies and Tuesday and Wednesday will be cloudy.

Temperatures between Sunday and Wednesday will fluctuate between 4 and 12 degrees.
