Stem cell donor team established at local hospital

The Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital has established the city’s first enterprise-based stem cell donor service team.

The first batch of 37 medical staff signed up to join the team on the first day, the hospital said on Wednesday.

The Shanghai stem cell donor service team was set up in 2019. The team, which consists of stem cell donors and volunteers from all walks of the society, engages in stem cell donor registration, stem cell donation promotion and donor data management.

By last year, the team had served 200,000 people and helped recruit 150,000 donors by organizing over 800 activities annually.
