A 6.5-magnitude earthquake jolted the waters of South China Sea at 1:28 p.m. Friday (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).

The epicenter was monitored at 14.38 degrees north latitude and 120.68 degrees east longitude, the center said in a statement.
