Five were killed and 27 injured after a fire broke out in a residential building in Guilin City, southwest China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Sunday morning, Nanguo Morning Post reported.

An electric bike parked on the first floor of the six-story building caught fire around 6am, trapping people upstairs, the report said.

Five people died at the scene. Among the injured, six have serious burns.

The apartment building is located opposite to Lijiang College of Guangxi Normal University and most tenants are college students.
