According to a statement from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration of the southwestern German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, a 25-year-old man from the Goeppingen district tested positive for coronavirus infection after he fell ill with flu-like symptoms.

The ministry said the patient was probably infected during a trip to Milan, Italy in recent days. The patient will be admitted to a clinic and treated in quarantine from other patients.

According to local media Rheinische Post, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in west Germany also confirmed its first case of coronavirus.
