Illustrated reading notes on 'Journey to the West' go viral

A videoclip featuring a junior middle school student from Fuyang in Anhui Province has gone viral in the past few days for her illustrated reading notes on China’s classic novel “Journey to the West,” thepaper.cn reported.

Yin Liang said she and her classmates have been required to read the classics and make reading notes since seventh grade. Yin began illustrating profiles for the figures in classic novels with key words depicting their characters and main events involving them.

Yin chose this way to study the classics since she has been fond of drawing since childhood. She said the main characters Tang Monk and Monkey King from "Journey to the West" impressed her the most.

Her vivid reading notes were applauded by her teacher, which Yin says gave her a "strong sense of achievement."
