Huawei Technologies released two artificial intelligence-featured sever chips yesterday to integrate with data center and cloud services, underlining the company's strategy to take its smartphone success into the enterprise market.

Huawei's Ascend series chips are seen as rivals to Nvidia and Google’s TPU (Tensor Processing Unit), the world's most powerful chips.

But Eric Xu, Huawei's rotating chairman, said in Shanghai that China's largest telecommunications gear and mobile phone maker would not sell independent AI chips but bundle them with enterprises services like the cloud.

Huawei has implemented a “full stack” AI strategy covering various hardware and services, including new chips, said Xu.

Huawei will invest in range AI areas, including  calculation capacity, security, algorithms, automation, technology synchronization, platforms and talent, to establish a “more connected world”.

The company sells more than 200 million smartphones annually, including several models using AI in features such as cameras and battery management.
