Shanghai International IT & Electronics Fair (SIIEF), Asia’s biggest information technology fair by exhibition space and visitor number, will showcase the latest technologies covering chips, AI and the Internet of Things from Tuesday.

The fair, supported by the Shanghai government, concludes six sub-theme exhibitions such as Semicon China and Electronica China. Exhibition space covers 289,000 square meters, which has attracted 4,500 exhibitors and about 300,000 professional visitors.

SIIEF has become “a world-class IT technology and communication platform” held in Shanghai, said Zhang Li, a senior official of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization.

It will boost local IT development, especially in electronics manufacture and industrial smart upgrades, Zhang said during a press conference on Wednesday.

In 2018, Shanghai’s next-generation IT industry output reached 365.1 billion yuan (US$54.5 billion), 5.8 percent growth year-on-year. It has become a growth engine for Shanghai to upgrade its economic structure, the commission added.

During the show between Tuesday and Thursday, new technologies and devices covering chips, flat panel displays, laser processing, smart driving, robotics and smart manufacture will be displayed, organizers said.

The event will be held in the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai).
