Huawei Technologies will enhance its opening strategy in hardware, software and cloud services to offer an upgraded ecosystem for developers and partners to tap into the AI computing market, the company said during the ongoing Huawei Connect 2019 conference in Shanghai.

By 2023, global AI computing market revenue is expected to hit US$2 trillion. At that time, China’s market revenue will hit 1.1 trillion yuan (US$157 million), about one-tenth of the global total, according to an industry white paper issued by Huawei and research firm International Data Corp.

Besides its new strategy, Huawei announced plans to invest US$1.5 billion over the next five years to support 5 million developers by 2023, compared with 1.3 million now.

“We now offer full-stack and affordable AI development and cloud services for developers and partners, covering chips, boards and cloud services,” said Zhang Shunmao, CTO of Huawei Cloud & AI.

Compared with platforms from AI giants like Google and Nvidia, Huawei’s AI training platform improves work efficiency by 40 to 70 percent, Huawei added.

News portal Sina, for example, is currently using Huawei’s latest AI tools for news sorting, publication and even content creation.

Meanwhile, Huawei will open more than 100 cloud services to industry partners. The company's Atlas 900 AI cluster, the world’s fastest AI training platform, will also be offered.

A new manual on programming and architecture for the Huawei-developed Ascend AI processor made its debut on Friday during the event.
