Sweet-sour shrimp ball
Sweet-sour shrimp ball is a popular dish that children especially love, and it's not so difficult to cook at home as one would expect.
For the shrimps or prawns, get rid of the head, open the back and remove the shrimp thread and peel. Marinate them for about two minutes with cooking wine, a little salt and pepper. Coat them with starch.
Heat a pot of oil to 200-240 degrees Celsius, and put the shelled shrimp in the pot. Quick stir-fry first, and take them out.
The dish's soul lies in the sauce. There are different recipes to make the sauce. Here is the easy-to-prepare one at home.
Mix three tablespoons of sweet chili sauce, one tablespoon of tomato sauce, half a tablespoon of lemon juice, a little refined cane sugar, some chicken essence and a little salt. Stir them thoroughly to make the sauce.
Heat up the pot again, boil the sauce. Put in the shrimps, cook quickly.
You can also add a little oil to make the whole dish look glossy.
It's also a common dish in Singapore and Thailand. You can choose the spicy-sweet sauce to give it a Southeast Asian flavor.
Spray some nuts and dried fruits on top to enjoy a more crunchy taste.
