Located in Tower S of Shanghai Hongqiao World Centre, an art center focused on the Chinese luxury yarn industry has been opened by the Consinee Group, one of China’s largest exporters of cashmere yarn.

On its opening day on September 2, the center presented a fashion show, with models on the runway in more than 30 stunning looks designed by award-winning designer Steven Oo using only Consinee luxury yarn.

The distinctive runway design created a strong visual impact for visitors with a grand ark-shaped hall, which is like a boat setting sail to new horizons and symbolizes the character “Shang” in Shanghai.

Consinee Group chairman Boris Xue said the center is to serve domestic high-end brands and professional designers.

“As the only Asian participant and exhibitor of Italy’s Pitti Filati and member of the global luxury club, we hope to share our first-hand information on international luxury yarn trends with designers and industry professionals,” Xue said.

“After generations of hard work for and dedication to the textile and apparel industries in China, hosting a Chinese Pitti Filati in Shanghai may be possible, to allow Shanghai to stand shoulder to shoulder with other fashion capitals in the world like Paris, New York and Milan,” Xue added.
