Another international Hospital has announced its official opening in downtown Shanghai.

Shanghai Jiahui International Hospital, with 500 beds and run in collaboration with American-based Massachusetts General Hospital, will become an international multidisciplinary treatment platform.

It aims to provide patients with the latest medical technology and better health management.

The city's health industry is encouraging more high-level clinics and hospitals, and the new hospital said it will offer more choice for people wanting top of the range medical services.

The launch of Jiahui international hospital at the weekend was applauded by local health authority for helping Shanghai to upgrade its health-care system.

“The city encourages the development of social-invested medical facilities. It is also the request of public health reform, which can improve local health capability and service through cooperation with world-leading professionals and facilities like Massachusetts General Hospital to help build Shanghai into an Asian medical hub,” said Wu Jinglei, director of Shanghai Health and Family Planning Commission.

In addition, Jiahui also has established cooperation with local leading public hospitals like Renji Hospital on staff training, clinical practice and residency cultivation.

Through cooperation with Xinhua Hospital, Jiahui is also the first international hospital to join a local medical treatment partnership in Yangpu District, enabling multi-site licensed practices of doctors as well as medical referrals and consultant across different medical facility, according to David Cook, president of Shanghai Jiahui International Hospital.
