Disney Resort begins a new 'Toy Story' in April
Testing has already begun on Rex’s Racer where guests will to climb into RC Racer for a thrilling ride on the U-shaped track, with Rex at the controls.
Shanghai Disneyland’s seventh themed land – Toy Story Land – is set to open on April 26, 2018, the Shanghai Disney Resort said on Thursday.
Major construction is almost complete and will be followed by an extensive preparation period, including testing and adjusting rides, and a trial operation.
Based on the Disney-Pixar film series, the new themeland will make guests feel as if they’ve been shrunk to the size of toys. The land features three new attractions – Slinky Dog Spin, Rex’s Racer, Woody’s Round-Up, a character greeting area, Meeting Post, and shopping and dining experiences at Al’s Toy Barn and Toy Box Café.
Rex's Racer, with its U-shaped track, is said to be the most thrilling ride in the new land.
Disneyland's Slinky Dog Spin is under testing and guests will soon be invited to take a seat inside Slinky Dog’s springy spirals and race around a wavy roundabout.
It is the first expansion since the resort opened in June last year.
Recruitment for Toy Story Land started earlier this year as the resort hires and trains new employees and cast members to join the existing team of over 10,000.
A trial operation will precede the grand opening to allow invited guests to enjoy the new attractions on selected dates.
The official opening will mark the second anniversary of the opening of the Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone.
And the timing will ensure the new area and its attraction will be in full swing for the summer peak season.
Disney Imagineers and construction teams paint Rex at Shanghai Disney Resort’s Show Production Center, where over 400 toys for the new Toy Story Land are being produced.
