With some Shanghai students set to return to school on Monday, the schedules of  bus routes will be adjusted and precautions taken to ensure they get there on time and safely.

Bus Line 116B, which passes seven schools, including Baoshan High School, Xingzhi High School and Baoshan Experimental School, plans to extend its operating rate to 95 percent during commuting hours.

Other bus lines, including Line 10, 65 and 46, have arranged for volunteers to safeguard student passengers at campus stations.

The Qiangsheng and Dazhong taxi companies have also introduced shuttle services. At Qiangsheng, students can book drivers to pick them up, with prices ranging from 300 yuan (US$42) to 1,600 yuan a month. A monitoring system has been installed to safeguard students during their trips. The company has also promised to disinfect taxis after each service. For details call 6258-0000 or 96822.

According to Qiangsheng, when picking up students after school, drivers will carefully keep up with parent timetables.

So far, the company has received more than 600 bookings.
