Pop singer Chen Yufan detained for drug taking

A 43-year-old pop singer surnamed Chen was detained on Monday for drug taking and illegal possession of drugs, the Shijingshan branch of the Beijing Public Security Bureau announced on its Weibo account on Wednesday.

The pop singer was confirmed as Chen Yufan, one of the two members of China’s famed vocal duo “Yu Quan”, Beijing Youth Daily later reported.

According to the public security bureau, police arrested Chen and a 25-year-old woman, surnamed He, at a residential complex after receiving a report. Police seized 7.96 grams of methamphetamine and 2.14 grams of marijuana at the scene.

Chen was confirmed positive for taking both drugs, while He tested positive for marijuana after urine testing. Both have been detained by police. 

The case is currently under further investigation.
