The 2020 Shanghai International Women’s Half Marathon will be held on March 8, 2020, which is also marked as International Women’s Day, organizers announced on Thursday.

Coming into its second year, the event will feature a total of 7,000 participants — 5,000 in the 21-kilometer half marathon and 2,000 in the 5-kilometer mini-marathon.

Runners can log on to www.shang-ma.com to register before 5pm on December 30. The quotas will be distributed through a draw, and the results will be announced on January 3.

Adjustments have been made to the routes of this year. The start line has been moved from Zhongshan Park to Hongqiao Economic Development Area. The finish line of the mini marathon will be set at Shanghai Zoo. More specific information about the routes will be announced later.

Registration fee is 150 yuan (US$21.4) for the half marathon and 50 yuan for the 5K race. The top 200 half marathon finishers will be awarded spots at the 2020 Shanghai International Marathon.

As an event tailored for women runners, the Shanghai International Women’s Half Marathon will arrange a make-up area, provide massage service and warm beverages at the finish line. Runners will receive a necklace-shaped medal when they complete the race.
