Mixed session at Chinese exchanges

Chinese shares posted mixed results on Tuesday.

By the close of market hours, the Shanghai Composite Index had increased by 0.17 percent to 2,914.82 points, while the Shenzhen Component Index shed 0.11 percent to 9,670.14 points. The blue chip CSI300 index was down 0.02 percent to 3,903.69 points.

Shipbuilders, coal and chemical stocks led the day's gains. Shipbuilders added 1.74 percent.

Precious metals' shares suffered the biggest losses.

Home appliance shares also continued their weak performance. Gree Electric Appliances lost 3.29 percent.

Turnover on the two major bourses totaled 365.5 billion yuan (US$52.14billion), down from 422.99 billion yuan on Monday.

On the STAR Market, 24 shares gained while 27 shares fell. Chipscreen Biosiences was the biggest gainer, increasing by 8.69 percent.
