WeSure, an Internet insurance platform owned by Tencent, said its customized butler service system has greatly facilitated user claims in the first half of the year.

Claims and service reports in the first six months show that the firm’s user base and the amount of claims both continued to grow rapidly.

Over 25,000 policyholders made more than 37,000 claims via the platform, with the total amount of medical insurance claims exceeding 290 million yuan (US$42.5 million), an increase of 132 percent year on year.

Up to 11,000 claims were made through WeSure’s customized butler service system.

With its help, WeSure is committed to building a "one-to-one" claims service system to ease users’ worries about Internet insurance claims.

“The Internet makes insurance more accessible, transparent and affordable. Under this premise, it is more important that insurance sold online should be reliable to users,” a spokesman for the Shenzhen-based company said.

According to a recent circular issued by the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, a total of 33,732 insurance complaints were received in the second quarter, nearly half of which were about claims disputes.

Launched in March 2019, the butler service provides users with policy consultation and risk assessment through a 1-to-1 model.

It is also responsible for assisting customers in claims settlement, and even helping users defend their rights in disputed cases.

From January to June, WeSure assisted 166 users in handling disputes, and recovered a total of 4.17 million yuan in claims through the service.
