Virtual reality, blockchain, and e-Sport will be the highlights at Asia’s biggest game show Chinajoy in Shanghai next month, organizers said today.

Shanghai will unveil an online system to allow firms to apply to have their games publicised locally so that they save cost and time when launching new games, said Peng Weiguo, vice director of the Shanghai Press & Publication Bureau.

Chinajoy is forecast to generate a contract value for the B2B (business to business) session of US$500 million, organizers said.

In 2017, Shanghai’s game industry revenue hit 68.4 billion yuan (US$10.3 billion), up 21.1 percent growth annually. The city now accounts for one-third of game revenue nationwide, said Peng.

Around 300,000 visitors are expected to attend the four-day event from August 3 to 6 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center in the Pudong New Area.
