A model showcase Panasonic's Magic Mirror system today.

The Magic Mirror to control home appliances, high-speed motion capture, smart driving and wearable devices to protect people from unexpected injury — all that and more features as Panasonic Corp shows off its latest tech in Shanghai.

The event, which opened Friday, represents the Japanese firm's latest tech for future city, entertainment and home sectors.

Magic Mirror can control various devices like your air purifier, cooking devices and washing machine, as well as conduct health care management, all through a wireless connection and new-tech display. Every member of the family can log in to their own account through fingerprint recognition.

Mapping, a Panasonic-developed motion capture technology, can be used in future theater and stage shows for better performance effects. Wearable devices with sensors and data analysis features are designed to protect workers in factories and warehouses as part of a smart factory project.

Panasonic also develops systems and batteries for smart driving, and are reported to be teaming up with Tesla to build its factory in Shanghai. But both companies declined to comment today.

The event, which celebrates the 100th anniversary of Panasonic, will close on Sunday.
