Leaders and top firms to attend AI conference in Shanghai

Leaders of IT giants and research institutions will attend the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai next month, the biggest AI conference held in the city this year, the organizers said on Saturday.

Totally 11 firms, including Alibaba, Baidu, Google, Huawei, Microsoft, SAIC, SAP and Tencent, signed with the local government to become the first strategic partners of the conference. The firms will showcase latest AI applications.

Pony Ma, Tencent's chairman, and Li Feifei, Google's well-known AI scientist, will attend the WAIC. Researchers from MIT and other universities and institutions will also share their thoughts.

The WAIC, which is expected to attract 260 speakers and 150 exhibitors, will be held between September 17 and 19. It is organized by government bodies including the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Shanghai government.
