Highest vertical race returns to Shanghai

Shanghai Tower is one of the landmark buildings in Lujiazui.

The world’s highest vertical race is returning to the world’s second highest building. The 2019 Shanghai Tower International Vertical Marathon scheduled on November 24 will be this year’s final race in the Towerrunning World Association’s tour series.

The race is expected to attract around 2,000 runners, both professionals and amateurs, and they will climb 3,398 steps to the 119th floor of Shanghai Tower, ascending a height of 552 meters.

International Olympic Committee Vice President Juan Antonio Samaranch has been announced as an ambassador to the event. He reached the top of the building last year in less than 40 minutes as one of the runners.

In the heart of the Lujiazui Financial Zone in the Pudong New Area, Shanghai Tower is 632 meters tall, making it currently China’s tallest and the world’s second tallest building. Its vertical race competition is verified as the highest in the world by the Towerrunning World Association.

Shanghai Tower boasts 127 floors above ground, and five floors below ground level. Construction started in November 2008, and completed at the end of 2014.

The damper display area on the 125th floor and the world’s highest cultural and humanistic art space on the 126th floor have attracted visitors from all over the world.

Taking the world’s fastest elevator to the 546-meter-high observatory on the 118th floor, visitors can have a 360-degree bird’s-eye view of Shanghai’s renowned buildings and ever-changing skyline.

Located inside the podium of the tower and covered with gold-coasted glass, the Shanghai Tower Conference Center boasts a 10.3-meter-high banquet hall, a garden ballroom with a patio and French windows, exclusive VIP rooms and seven multi-function meeting rooms ranging from 68 to 136 square meters.

With a total space of 2,000 square meters and a height of 10.3 meters, the Grand Hall on the second floor of the Conference Center has the highest floor height among all ballrooms in Lujiazui area.

It provided an ideal venue for all kinds of activities, including large-scale annual meetings, new product launches, forums, auto exhibitions and new car launches.

The Garden Ballroom on the fifth floor of the Conference Center is definitely an ideal venue for outdoor parties. With a total area of 1,148 square meters and 7.5 meters in height, the ballroom is equipped with a 33-square-meter P4 LED electronic screen, 20,000-lumen projectors and a BOSE surround-sound audio system.
