THREE acclaimed Italian movies made their debut in Shanghai this month at the Jing’an Cultural Center as part of the 17th Italian Language in the World Week.

“L’amore Molesto” (“Nasty Love”) is adapted from Elena Ferrante’s novel of the same name. It chronicles a young woman who re-examines her family relationships following her mother’s suicide.

“Il Racconto dei Racconti” (“Tale of Tales”) is adapted from a 17th-century fairy tale collection by Italian poet Giambattista Basile. The movie comprises three tales of people rethinking the nature of love.

“Un Bacio” (“One Kiss”) is adapted from a novel by director Ivan Cotroneo. It focuses on campus bullying and how teenagers seek happiness. It has been screened at the Beijing International Film Festival.
