SLIGHT to moderate pollution is expected to hit the city today with tiny particle PM10 being the major pollutant.

According to Shanghai Environmental Monitoring Center, the pollution is dust carried into the city by winds from the northern provinces. The air quality index is forecast to be between 85 and 115 during the day today, surpassing the threshold for slight pollution — 100.

Short-time moderate pollution with AQI between 101 and 150 can be expected in some areas. But by evening, the figure will fall below 85, or good. Tomorrow’s AQI is forecast between 55 and 75.

The temperature will also drop with showers predicted for tomorrow. It will be mostly cloudy today with a high of 25 degrees Celsius and drop to 20 degrees tomorrow. It will drop to 18 on Friday.
