Online classes will continue after students return to school, Shanghai’s education commission director told a news conference on Friday.

Lu Jing, the director, said all schools will assess student performance after they return and work out teaching plans accordingly, including providing individualized tutoring after school or on the Internet. The schools will also make up classes that cannot be taught online, he said.

“For graduating students, the following two months are for reviewing and our online teaching on TV and the Internet since March 2 will continue after students return to school so they can watch the replays if they want,” he said.

The first lesson for students after their return will be on novel coronavirus prevention. Schools will also advance gradually in education to help students adapt to campus life and ease their pressure when facing graduation tests.
