1 new imported case reported in Shanghai

One new imported case of novel coronavirus was reported in the city on Thursday, while one imported case from the UK was discharged from hospital upon recovery, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Friday morning.

The patient, a Chinese living in Brazil, arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on April 21.

The newly diagnosed case has been transferred to the designated hospital for treatment and 17 close contacts on the same flight have been tracked down and put under quarantine and observation.

So far, of all the 302 imported cases, 202 have been discharged upon recovery and 100 are still hospitalized, including one in critical condition.

Another 13 imported suspected cases are undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted cases or suspected cases were reported on Thursday.

Of the 339 local cases, 331 have been discharged upon recovery and one being hospitalized is in serious condition. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation right now, the health commission said.
