Typhoon Maysak is set to bring gale force winds and rain to the city on Tuesday, the first day of the new semester.

Maysak, the ninth typhoon of the year which formed near the Philippines on Friday, is moving northwest.

Its maximum wind force has reached 136.8 kilometers per hour and is increasing.

According to the National Meteorological Center, it is likely to become the city’s first super typhoon this year with a wind force of 184kph to 201kph on Monday afternoon.

Thunder storms are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday but the rest of the week should be clear.

Residents, especially students returning to school, should watch out for falling objects, such as flowerpots, window glass and advertising boards, and keep away from pond water, which is electro-conductive.

Temperatures will range from 30 to 33 degrees Celsius. Students should take care to use skin protection to avoid sunburn.

Although it is rare that there were no typhoons in July this year, seven typhoons have formed this month, more than 1.27 year on year.
