Juss Sports teams up with Shanghai University of Sport
Shanghai University of Sport and Juss Sports, one of China's top sporting event organizers and promoters, have entered a partnership deal aimed at fostering the sporting industry and advancing sports research.
State-owned Juss Sports is the organizer of world-class international sports events such as the Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix, the Rolex Shanghai Masters tennis tournament, the equestrian Global Champions Tour and the IAAF Diamond League. It also manages venues including the Shanghai International Circuit, Oriental Sports Center and Xujiahui Sports Park.
Shanghai University of Sport is China’s first institution of higher education focused on sports. It runs a sports industry information and data center, and offers majors like sports competition and event research, auto racing research and sports lottery research.
The two parties will share their resources and explore areas like talent cultivation, sports industry research and industrial informatization. Projects like mobile classrooms and interactive social practice will be introduced. They will establish a joint fund in the future to support scientific research and development of Shanghai’s sports industry.
China’s sports industry is valued at 2.2 trillion yuan (US$328 billion), and official plans aim to expand it to 5 trillion yuan by 2025. Shanghai is also aiming to become a leading city in the sports industry.
