A man from Yongkang in Zhejiang Province was detained for stealing the logos from ten Mercedes cars.

The 25-year-old man, surnamed Guo, recorded himself ripping off Mercedes logos in order to win “likes” on Douyin, a popular social networking app for uploading short videos.

Guo, a frequent Douyin user, said he initially didn’t receive many “likes” for his videos, so he decided to imitate others by removing car logos to gain ten of thousands of “likes” within only a few seconds.

Local police received a report that the logo of a Mercedes car has been stolen on the early morning of March 28. As security video showed, a man stopped his car beside the car, turned to the front of it and left a few seconds later.
