Textile and apparel makers have been mobilized to produce protective suits and medical supplies to fight against the coronavirus outbreak.

Shanghai-headquartered Sanqiang Group Co recently delivered its first batch of 2,000 safety suits to the Shanghai Commission of Economy and Informatization after resuming production in late January.

Its parent company, Shanghai Dragon Corporation, is also working to reach daily production capacity of 8,000 units.

Shuixing Home Textile resumed work on February 3 and transformed 10 bedding production lines to manufacture protective suits for non-medical use.

More than 30 workers have been trained and current daily production capacity stands at 1,000 suits.

The city government has given special permission for protective equipment factories to resume work early, while many others remain closed to prevent the spread of infection.

Jiangsu Hongdou Industrial Co started to produce disposable protective suits on February 3 at one of its medical-level production sites and estimates that monthly production volume is now around 200,000 units.

Foxconn Industrial Internet Commission said in a stock exchange filing on Friday that it's applying for a production license for facial masks at one of its production sites, with expected daily capacity to reach 100,000 masks.

It has started trial production with an estimated daily capacity of 2 million by the end of this month, and would prioritize use for internal employee use.
