Child seriously injured by falling piece of glass

A child was severely injured after being hit by a piece of glass that fell from a high-rise building this morning in Putuo District.

The piece of glass, about one square meter in size, fell from a building in a community on Wuwei Road E. It hit the child, who was about 7 years old, in the head as he was on his way to school, Putuo police said.

Gory pictures allegedly taken by a witness showed the bloody ground at the site.

Police have ruled out the possibility that someone intentionally threw the glass out of the building.

The child is under emergency treatment at Tongji Hospital and the case is still under investigation.
