Shanghai police on Thursday crushed illegal guns and banned daggers seized in a crackdown on gun crimes since the beginning of this year.

Police didn’t reveal how many weapons were destroyed in total, but said they have caught 210 suspects and closed over 180 illegal websites trading the objects so far this year.

A good amount of the destroyed weapons were turned in to police by residents and companies, police said.
