Traditional wedding ceremonies of China's ethnic groups is presented on the opening ceremony of Shanghai International Wedding Fashion Week in Baoshan District on Friday.

Traditional wedding ceremonies of European and Asian countries as well as China's ethnic minorities will be showcased in Baoshan during the city's annual wedding fashion week.

The Shanghai International Wedding Fashion Week started at the Elite Valley, an innovative park renovated from a historical import and export warehouse in the city's northern district, on Friday night and will run through Monday. 

Traditional wedding ceremonies of Greece, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and Thailand and China's She, Yugu, Tujia and Qiang ethnic groups will be presented to the public over the weekend along with wedding cultures and conventions.

Dozens of newly wed couples from across the country will attend a traditional wedding ceremony of China's Han nationality on a cruise liner on Monday. The couples will be dressed in traditional Han wedding costumes and finish the ancient procedures.

There are about 2,300 wedding planning companies, photo studios and wedding-themed innovative parks in Shanghai. The total output of the city's wedding industry reached 40 billion yuan (US$5.8 billion) in 2017, ranked the first among Chinese provinces and cities.

During this year's wedding fashion week, over 300 wedding planning institutes from over 10 nations and regions and over 1,500 audiences are expected to attend the event. World's leading wedding dress brands from Spain, Italy, the United States and France will present fashion shows at the valley through Monday.

Baoshan has become the major gathering place for the city's wedding industry. A number of popular wedding sites have opened to public. They include the valley on Changjiang Road, the Shanghai Wedding Center on Jiwen Road and the Bund 1919 on Songxing Road W. Many of them were redeveloped from historical industrial factories in the northern district.
