A nationwide monitoring network for metabolic disease operates through standard metabolic management centers in some 500 hospitals across the country, a national forum on precise imaging and artificial information technology in health management was told.

“Precise imaging and monitoring is the base for disease management,  detecting diseases and the risk of disease,” said Dr Ning Guang, vice president of Shanghai’s Ruijin Hospital and director of the National Clinical Research Center for Metabolic Disease. “Precise checkups are crucial for disease prevention and management.”

AI has also greatly assisted management of chronic diseases like diabetes, as such conditions are closely related to lifestyle.

“In the metabolic management center in our hospital, patients take six important tests in one room. AI analysis assists doctors, who connect with patients through an app on their smartphones,” Ning said. “Doctors can monitor patients through the app, while patients can check their prognosis, get prescriptions and make appointments. All the 500 such centers operate to the same standards.”
