Three ticket scalpers have been caught outside Changfeng Ocean World in Putuo District.

District police said they received a report at 3pm on June 12 about the scalpers.

The three were selling tickets at a lower price than those sold at the ticket office and caused congestion at the gate of the park.

They allegedly confessed that they had purchased the tickets at 135 to 140 yuan (US$20) on the Internet and were selling them at 160 to 170 yuan to visitors.

Police said tickets sold at the office of the park cost 180 yuan, but on some tourism websites they are cheaper.

Scalpers who take advantage of the price difference are not rare during the summer holiday season, police said.

The three will be detained for five to 10 days.
