Dutch drama “Sea Heroes” combines music and dance in the performance to tell children about the magical power of the sea.

Seven dramas from home and abroad will be presented for young theater fans at the Children’s Art Theater of China Welfare Institute during the 2019 Shanghai International Children’s Theater Festival which raises its curtain this weekend.

Dutch drama “Sea Heroes” combines music and dance in the performance to tell children about the magical power of the sea.

The sailors brave the rogue waves during the day and at night when the wind has settled down. They tell cool stories about the pirates and the mermaid who enchanted everyone with her beautiful voice. Dance, acrobatics and live music will be combined in the performance.

Russian puppet show “Gift for Mom” is based on the books of Quentin Greban. A ladybird named Zyuzya goes to the forest to find the best gift for her mother, but is carried away by an insidious wind. This is the beginning of all adventures in the play. It was an award winner at the Theater of St Petersburg.

The show for the closing ceremony of the festival features three series stories based on Chinese picture books. Memories come alive by the paintings, music and dance during the performance.

“Rabbit Lantern” is a warm story that takes place at the traditional Lantern Festival when Xiao Lian received a rabbit lantern from her loving grandfather.

In “Badger Stealing Watermelons,” as the title says,  a badger has been stealing watermelons, but there is an unexpected secret behind the story.

The main character in “The Clown” is someone who keeps bringing joy and happiness to people in need. But what if the clown is in a bad mood himself? What does he do?
