Swimming lessons proved popular with students in Jiading District in the summer vacation.
At the Jiading District Citizen Fitness Center’s pool there were 160 people taking lessons, paying 500 yuan (US$73) for a course of 10 90-minute lessons.
“We have paid for two training courses and hope my son will learn the skills of swimming,” a woman surnamed Li said.
The training at Jiading District Citizen Fitness Center is subsidized. Similar classes can cost between 230 and 300 yuan each at private fitness centers.
