Foreigners appreciate beauty of Qingpu
Qingpu District has established 14 city-level Model Beautiful Villages and 47 district-level ones in its rural revitalization construction, Gu Xiaoliu, vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference's Qingpu committee, told foreign representatives at a roundtable discussion on Thursday.
Nearly 40 local foreigner representatives, including consular officials, representatives of Shanghai’s sister cities and Magnolia Award winners, visited West Qingpu Country Park to see how ecological agriculture works there.
Gu said there are now 304 professional farmers’cooperatives in Qingpu with over 90 percent adopting scale operation in grain and over 80 percent adopting scale operation in vegetables.
The district has established 25 core model bases for the green production of rice, two model bases for cyclic ecological vegetable planting, and initiated a pilot project for aquaculture tailwater treatment, Gu said.
Shao Linchu, chair of the CPPCP's Shanghai committee for agriculture and rural affairs told Shanghai Daily that the committee founded in January now has 38 members, all of whom work in fields related to agriculture, rural areas and farmers.
"Now every district in Shanghai has its own country park. Our CPPCC member shave made great contributions to these parks' establishment."
Sabri Tunc Angili, Turkey's Consul General in Shanghai, said that in Turkey, like most countries, ecological farming is very important. "I think we can learn a lot from China," Angili said.
