"Shanghai Standouts" awards were presented to 90 men and 12 women on Tuesday by the Shanghai General Trade Union to honor their hard and excellent work.

Of this year's winners, 75 are from state-owned companies or government organizations and 79 work in manufacturing while 59 of them are responsible for 475 inventions with intellectual property rights.

The trade union said the awards for excellent workers don't stop at the ceremony, but it will encourage companies to establish their best workers as tutors to fellow workers and also press the government to introduce more preferential policies to attract highly skilled workers from other parts of the country.

Since 2016, 382 people have received the awards.
