Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong speaks at a meeting on the city's work on novel coronavirus epidemic prevention and control.

Scientific analysis, more refined management and organizing based on the latest condition of novel coronavirus epidemic prevention and control should be carried out with working mechanisms improved and more key supplies put into the market, Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong told a meeting on Monday.

He said the city's work on prevention and control of coronavirus-related pneumonia had entered a key stage which requires further enhanced leadership, responsibility for implementing tasks and scientific epidemic prevention and control.

The allocation of facilities and personnel should be strengthened to cut the source of infection. Local residential communities should also enhance their control of the epidemic with screening, registration and management services given to certain groups.

Those who have been to key epidemic-stricken areas should be guided to report their condition and those with a fever are encouraged to go to hospital, while others should protect themselves.

Ying emphasized the analysis and application of multi-source data. He said the collection, delivery, verification and feedback of information should form a closed circle and serve epidemic prevention and control more exactly and effectively.

Greater openness in information should be provided and the disclosure of the latest information should be given timely to raise people's awareness and lead to joint participation.

Ying pointed out that supplies are critical during the epidemic and the city should make all efforts to ensure the supply of key items.

The government will wholly support local enterprises to resume and expand their production of supplies and buy items from both home and overseas via various ways.

The usage of related medical and sanitation products at medical institutions should have scientific division and management. For those with growing needs among the public, their supply should be enhanced in the local market to meet demand.

Food supplies should also be ensured with abundant stock and stable prices.

At the meeting, reports from the city's commissions of economy and information technology, commerce, housing and construction, education, health and public security on their latest epidemic prevention and control efforts were heard by government leaders.
