A wedding to remember as Yu Jinghai and Zhou Lingyi are married at Leishenshan Hospital in Wuhan.

Two nurses who postponed their wedding to go to the frontline in Wuhan held their ceremony on Friday witnessed by delegates from 12 medical teams from across the country.

Yu Jinghai and Zhou Lingyi, both from Shanghai’s Renji Hospital, were wed at Leishenshan Hospital, the second emergency hospital for coronavirus.

The couple were due to be married on February 28 but both have been at the Wuhan hospital since February 19.

When Leishenshan officials heard their story, they decided to organize a surprise ceremony for them.

“It is a special wedding. The protective outfit is the special wedding dress and the hospital is a special wedding hall. We hope the bride and groom working together to fight epidemic will enjoy a happy life in the future,” said Dr Zhang Jidong, vice president of Renji Hospital and leader of its team in Wuhan.

Though the wedding took only several minutes, the couple said it was a wedding they would remember for ever.

“It was such a surprise for us. My colleagues didn't tell us at all," said Zhou Lingyi, the bride. "Fighting together in Wuhan is much more meaningful than having an ordinary wedding and honeymoon. I believe the epidemic will be under control soon and all of us will return victorious.”
