Over 50 medical staff from Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital donated blood on Monday morning.

Due to the coronavirus epidemic, Shanghai has experienced a blood shortage. The hospital launched a campaign to call for blood donations and over 230 people answered the call to participate within 10 days, hospital officials said.

Some staff donated blood at donation spots near their homes or went to Shanghai Blood Center to make donations.

To make donating more convenient, the blood center sent a blood donation vehicle to the hospital on Monday morning, when 52 medical staff successfully donated 9,200 milliliters of blood.

“While medical teams are working hard on the frontline in Wuhan, medical staff who remain in the city also try our best to serve patients and ensure medical safety,” said Dr Wan Xiaoping, president of Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital.
